In 2024, an actor Kan Fukuhara and a dancer Shumpei Mitsuhashi stayed New York for two months as an individual fellowship of Asian Cultural Council. “The research of rehearsal spaces”that’s the purpose of their staying. They went around rehearsal spaces of theaters, studios, schools. They wanted to know how people communicate each other at the “rehearsal spaces” as a place where people with diverse backgrounds and diverse purpose they have come across. And what kinda people gather, why they want rehearsal spaces. That’s is the exploring of the meaning of the rehearsal spaces in the city, also society.
They joined workshops over 100, did more than 40 activities. Most of classes and activities they got were by ‘word of mouth’
Places need to go, people need meet were all by word of mouth. There were many places you can’t find by googling.
We’re going to look back 60 days adventure, which was like water flowing, by exhibition and talk.
